This isn't a role for working someone else's leads. It's the job of building Push's new-business engine from the ground up, reporting directly to the founders, and owning the number.

Push builds ecommerce and product-data technology for the cycling industry. Hundreds of bike retailers run on Push, from independent shops to multi-store groups such as JE James and The Bicycle Chain, and the platform has been chosen by brands including Specialized, Trek and Pinarello. With more than 800,000 products pre-catalogued and 18 regions and currencies supported, it's built to travel internationally and, where the evidence supports it, into new verticals.

Put simply: the product is proven, the customers are real, and almost all of that growth has come without a dedicated sales team. This role exists to turn a strong reputation into repeatable sales.

The mandate

You will own new business across our two propositions:

  • Push Platform ecommerce technology for bike retailers and brands, from single-store independents to multi-store groups and enterprise brands, across the UK and international cycling markets.
  • Push SDM product-data technology that gives brands and distributors clean, ready-to-sell product data at scale.

Reporting and partnership

You'll report directly to the founders. That means no layers, fast decisions and real influence over how we sell, who we target and what we build next. Get this right and you won't just hit a number, you'll have built the function.

You'll work alongside a dedicated Growth Marketing Manager. Pipeline is a shared number between the two of you, rather than a handover. But your pipeline and your target are yours.

We're not interested in how many calls you can tell us you made. We're interested in whether you can get in front of the right people, understand their business, give them a compelling reason to change, and convert them into a Push customer.

How we think about selling

This is how the role has been designed, and how we'll work together:

  • Revenue over activity. Calls and meetings are easy to count, but easy to confuse with progress. We measure new business by customers won and recurring revenue added.
  • Diagnose before you pitch. The best deals come from understanding a retailer's business better than anyone else who's called them. We're looking for consultative sales.
  • Right-size every deal. A £6k independent retailer and a £100k multi-store group need very different motions. Close the first quickly without overworking it; give the second the depth it deserves.
  • Build the playbook as you go. Every win, loss and objection is data. Write down what works so the next deal, and eventually the next hire, is faster.
  • AI-native by default. Use AI and modern tools for research, prospecting and follow-up so your time goes on conversations rather than admin.

What success looks like

  • First 30 days: learn. Get under the skin of the product, our customers and the market. Talk to existing customers about why they bought, sit with the founders on live opportunities, and map the accounts that matter most.
  • By 60 days: plan and prospect. Agree with the founders your target segments for each proposition, your outreach approach and how we'll measure progress. Have real conversations under way and a pipeline you can show us.
  • By 90 days: convert. First deals closed or close to it, a qualified pipeline building week on week, and a clear view of which approaches are working.
  • At 12 months. A repeatable, documented sales process, a healthy pipeline across smaller retailers and multi-store groups, meaningful new recurring revenue, and evidence on where to sell next: new regions, new verticals, or both.

What the work looks like

No two weeks will look the same. In any given month you might be:

  • Prospecting into a defined target list of retailers, groups, brands or distributors, using whatever channel actually gets a response.
  • Running discovery conversations that uncover how a retailer sells today and what it's costing them.
  • Closing smaller retailers quickly with a clean, efficient process.
  • Leading larger consultative deals with multi-store groups, bringing in the founders and product team at the right moments.
  • Working with the Growth Marketing Manager on campaigns, case studies and sales assets that open doors.
  • Representing Push at industry events, in the UK and, as we expand, internationally.
  • Feeding back what you hear to the founders and product team, so what we build keeps pace with what customers want.

Who you are

  • A genuine hunter. You like new business and naturally create momentum. A quiet diary bothers you, and you do something about it.
  • Comfortable with cold approaches. Approaching people you've never spoken to doesn't deter you.
  • Curious before you're persuasive. You ask good questions and listen properly before you pitch.
  • Commercially sharp and persistent. Your follow-up is excellent and deals don't go quiet under your purview.
  • Self-directed. You don't need someone standing over you. If something isn't working, you change it rather than waiting to be told what to do.
  • Comfortable with ownership. You want to be measured on revenue, and you're honest about what's working and what isn't.

You'll stand out if

  • You have sold B2B software or SaaS, ideally on a recurring-revenue model.
  • You have won new logos, not just grown existing accounts.
  • You have sold into retail, ecommerce or cycling, or know your way around specialist retail.
  • You have been an early sales hire in a smaller or scaling business where there was no playbook to follow.

What you're walking into

Push is not a big corporate sales environment, and we'd rather be upfront about that. There's no SDR team filling your diary, no mature outbound playbook and no established lead pipeline waiting for you. Nobody has tried to build this function systematically before.

What you do have is a proven product, hundreds of customers, recognisable brand and retailer names to point to, a large addressable market, a dedicated marketer alongside you, and direct access to the people who built the business.

What you'll earn

  • Base salary: £40,000–£45,000.
  • Uncapped commission from your first sale. No threshold to clear before you start earning.
  • Commission rates: 5% of first-year recurring contract value, with marginal accelerators to 7.5% and then 10% as your annual new business grows.
  • Deal sizes: smaller retailers are typically worth around £6,000 a year. Multi-store Connect customers can be worth up to £100,000 a year.

We don't advertise a made-up OTE, because you're our first dedicated new-business hire and we'd rather work with you to define that. At the interview stage we'll walk you through exactly how the commission model works and what different levels of performance would pay.

What you'll get

  • Real ownership. Your own pipeline, your own number, and the trust to decide how to hit it.
  • A direct line to the founders. You report to them, work with them on big deals, and help shape the company's commercial direction.
  • Proof that opens doors. Hundreds of customers, recognisable retail names and leading cycling brands to reference.
  • Proper support. A dedicated Growth Marketing Manager, industry relationships and partnerships, and AI tools to make you faster.
  • Room to grow. As the sales engine proves itself, the function and your role within it can grow with it.
